Understand the 5-step design thinking cycle and how it can be used as a practical tool for innovative problem solving. You’ll explore case studies and work through a 2-day design challenge to experience the process end-to-end.
Learn to focus on users’ needs, desires, and challenges rather than jumping straight to solutions. You’ll identify extreme users, distinguish observation from inference, and conduct real empathy interviews to uncover deeper insights.
Practise unpacking interview findings and translating them into clear, focused points of view. You’ll use tools like Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions to understand how users feel and craft “game-changing” problem statements that inspire better solutions.
Learn how to scope effective brainstorming sessions, create the right environment for creativity, and apply proven brainstorming techniques. You’ll practise moving from many raw ideas to a focused set of promising solutions.
Run actual testing sessions with users, using simple feedback collection frameworks. You’ll learn how to refine your prototypes, redefine the problem if needed, and improve your solutions through multiple iterations.
Use the A.I.D.A. framework (Attention–Interest–Desire–Action) to present your solutions in a compelling way. You’ll practise pitching your ideas clearly and confidently so stakeholders understand the value and are willing to support implementation.
